The city and Lime will host a community event to celebrate the launch of Bellevue’s new first and last mile service on Friday, August 21 where community mobility and transit partners will be sharing resources and Lime will be distributing free helmets. Electric bikes and scooters offer quick options for short trips, connect riders to bus and light rail, and make every day errands easier without the hassle of parking—helping reduce car trips and congestion in busy areas. They offer a flexible and affordable way for those who live, work or play in Bellevue to get to where they need to go.
To expand these options, the City of Bellevue has partnered with Lime to reintroduce shared electric bikes and launch shared scooters starting Monday, August 10, 2026.
Choosing your ride
Throughout the initial launch, 500 devices will be available throughout the city including 350 scooters, 50 e-bikes and 100 seated gliders.
Starting your ride
- Download the Lime app on your Apple or Android device.
- Locate a bike or scooter available for rent using the app or find one parked around the city.
- Find the device’s 6-digit QR code on the handlebar.
- Ride the bike or scooter
- Park and lock up the device using the app.

Discounted Fares
If you have ORCA LIFT, the Regional Reduced Fare Permit (RRFP), or Apple Health (Medicaid), or receive discounted utilities, discounted housing, or nutritional assistance (e.g. SNAP), you likely qualify for rides at a reduced cost.
The Lime Access program provides discounted fares of .50 to unlock and .07 per minute to qualifying riders.
Later this fall, riders will be able to receive ride discounts if your trip ends near a light rail station or transit center.
Parking and riding responsibly
Improperly parked scooters and bikes can create obstacles for people using our sidewalks, especially for those using mobility assistance devices or who have no or low vision. To help keep Bellevue accessible for everyone, please park shared scooters and bikes in designated, unobstructed areas.
There are 45 initial parking zones throughout the city which are designated in the Lime app. The Lime app also shows locations in the city where it is mandatory to park your device as well as locations where parking is never allowed such most city parks in Bellevue.
How to park:
- Always use a parking corral or mandatory parking area when available
- If a designated parking area is not available, park the scooter or bike upright at a bike rack, bike corral, or in the area with trees, poles, and other fixtures towards the curb.
- Leave at least six feet clear for sidewalk users to pass
Do not park:
- At curb ramps, intersections or corners, or in driveways
- Inside no‑parking zones shown in your scooter or bike app
- Within bus stops
- In City of Bellevue parks
- In front of building entrances, benches, parking pay stations, fire hydrants, recycling/garbage bins, or dumpsters
On private property or anywhere the device is hidden from public view.
Slow and No-go Zones
Slow and no go zones in Bellevue are indicated by yellow and red lines in the app. In slow zones, your e scooter or e bike will automatically reduce speed to 5–12 mph. In no go zones, the device will gradually come to a stop.
As you enter these areas, you’ll receive an alert from the app and the motor will slow on its own to help protect people walking, biking and rolling. These areas are typically concentrated near high-trafficked areas near downtown, parks and waterfronts.
Safer riding
Bellevue’s e-bike and e-scooter program is safety centered to help everyone share streets and sidewalks comfortably. Before riding, here are the basics every Lime rider should know.
- General rule: You cannot ride an e-bike or e-scooter on the sidewalk. Ride in bike lanes or on multi-use paved trails whenever possible.
- Exception: If the street you are riding on has a speed limit of 25 mph or higher and there’s no safe alternative to ride, such as a bike lane or paved shoulder, you may ride on the sidewalk.
- People walking and rolling come first: If you ride on the sidewalk, you must slow down, get off the device in crowded areas and always let pedestrians go first.
- Helmet use: Bellevue law requires all bicycle or e-bike riders to wear a helmet (BCC 11.60.090) and strongly encourages helmet use for e-scooter riders.
- Responsible riding: Only one person should be riding the device and never operate while intoxicated.

Contact Lime support directly in the Lime app, by emailing support@li.me or calling (888) 546-3345 for:
• Devices blocking access to sidewalks, crosswalks, park entrances, etc.
• Devices that need assistance (damaged, parked incorrectly)
• Device that need to be removed from or near private property

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the age requirement for Lime devices?
Lime’s User Agreement states riders must be 18 years or older to operate a Lime scooter or e-bike.
Can I ride or park at light rail stations or transit centers?
Yes – you will be able to end your trip at designated parking areas near light rail stations and transit centers. These locations will likely be near existing bike racks or painted parking corrals.
Can I ride in City of Bellevue parks?
Yes – however, all city parks will be slow zones, so your device will operate at a slower speed than other areas of town. Additionally, you will not be able to start or end a trip within parks.
Can I ride a device to cities on the Eastside?
As of 2026, the only other Eastside city next to Bellevue that you can ride to is Redmond. You will not be allowed to ride to other cities like Issaquah or Kirkland.
Can I ride a Lime device on regional trails such as Eastrail?
Yes – however, you will only be able to ride on portions of the trail in Bellevue and Redmond where Lime is currently operating. Never park your Lime device on the trail.
