The Tourism Promotion Area Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the use of revenue from the TPA fee. The board is comprised of representatives of lodging businesses subject to the charges, with four from the Bellevue zone and four from the Redmond one. The board holds public meetings and makes studies, analyses and reports requested by the council.
The board is required to:
- review tourism promotion activities and expenditures designed to increase tourism and convention business in the TPA’s two zones
- review relevant financial statements concerning revenues and expenditures
- provide periodic reports to the Bellevue City Council concerning TPA revenues and expenditures
- develop a recommended annual strategic plan for lodging revenues by July 30 of each year
- develop a recommended annual budget by July 30 of each year
- provide an annual report to the Redmond City Council each year
- review and recommend proposals for management agreements with destination management organizations or similar organizations to provide for management and operation of the TPA
- recommend qualified candidates to serve as representatives to the board
Members
The Bellevue city manager appoints TPA Advisory Board members. Members can serve no more than two consecutive four-year terms. Terms expire on May 31 of the final year of the term. Commissioners appointed to fill partial terms of less than two years are eligible to serve for an additional two full terms.
