    BYOC

Did you remember your keys, phone, wallet ... and cup!?!

The Eastside is choosing to reuse! The cities of Bellevue, Bothell, Kirkland and Redmond have partnered to reduce waste from single-use cups. Join the BYOC campaign by bringing your own cup to Eastside coffee shops and celebrating reuse efforts in your community.

    Details about the BYOC Campaign

Pledge to join our Eastside community by choosing to reuse during the BYOC Campaign. By taking the pledge you agree to:

    • Remember to bring your own reusable cup to coffee shops.
    • Share Eastside reuse efforts with your friends and family. (#ChooseReuse)
    • Make reuse a part of your daily lives to help reduce waste.

Bring your own cup and enter to win a prize!

Keep your eyes out for fun social media updates with chances to win prizes! City staff will also be sharing more information at events throughout the summer. More information coming soon.

    Upcoming Events

Visit the BYOC campaign tent at an event to learn about your local BYOC-friendly businesses and receive free campaign tools to reduce waste (while supplies last). Visit our booths for more information and fun items to help you remember your cup when you leave home (e.g. kitchen tea towels, keychains, and more!). Don’t have a high-quality reusable travel cup? Don’t worry, we will have a limited number to offer at this event for those in need.

    • Aug. 1 Crossroads Farmers Market

    Local Art Partnership

Local artists have also partnered to create diverse custom artwork to encourage this planet-protecting behavior and we’ll offer their unique art as stickers and more at booths and participating coffee shops so you can make your cup as special as you are!

    BYOC Coffee Shop Partner Locations

A special thank you to our BYOC partners. Bring your own cup to any of these businesses and stay tuned for special events and prize opportunities.

    Why #ChooseReuse?

Reusables are Better for the Planet
Over their lifecycle, reusable cups have lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to disposable alternatives.

    Reusables Reduce Litter
Transitioning to reusables helps prevent litter from ending up on the streets, in storm drains, and in rivers and lakes.

    Reusables are Safe
Washington State Retail Food Code allows businesses to refill personal beverage containers. Reusables are safe and do not spread COVID.

You can feel good about doing your part to prevent pollution and other harmful environmental impacts. Learn more about the many benefits of reusables by visiting upstreamsolutions.org.

    2023 BYOC Pilot Results

    • We connected with 20 local coffee shops as partner businesses
    • We reached over 1.5 million people with our behavior change-focused digital marketing campaign
    • We talked reusables with over 2000 individuals across 14 outreach tabling events
