Launching in early 2026, this new, free service provides personalized, one-on-one consulting to help small business owners confidently navigate the city’s permitting process—from due diligence support before signing a lease through grand opening celebrations.
What's offered?
A small business consultant is your personal guide through the permitting experience. You’ll receive pre-lease due diligence, dedicated one-on-one concierge support, help navigating permits and code requirements, clear direction on what’s allowed in your space, and coordinated connections with the right city specialists.
Our goal is to make the process more predictable, transparent, and supportive—helping small business owners move forward with clarity and confidence.
Who qualifies?
The program is designed for businesses that meet the city’s small business definition:
- Fewer than 25 full-time employees
- Less than $5 million in annual revenue
- For-profit businesses (not part of a national chain or franchise unless independently owned with minimal startup funds)
Examples include:
- Restaurants and cafes
- Daycares and pet services
- Retail boutiques
- Personal services (hair salons, fitness studios)
