Lights Should Be On...
- If a field with lights has been reserved after dark. Field lights are programmed based on scheduled use, so they will not come on if your group is using the field without a reservation.
- 15 minutes before use if the field reservation starts after dark.
- 30 minutes prior to astronomical dusk if the field reservation starts before dark.
- Until the end of the reservation, no later than 11 p.m. at most fields. (At Newport Hills, the lights can only be on until 10 p.m.) There is no cushion time with lights after use on City of Bellevue fields.
Note: Please let us know ASAP if the field confirmation doesn’t include a separate light fee for reservations after dark on a field with lights. The light fee is charged in addition to the field fee when lights are needed. The City of Bellevue and King County/Marymoor have different light fees, so the light fee will vary based on the field reserved.
Adjusting Light Programming at the Field
- Bannerwood: Facility Staff on-site are responsible for adjusting the light programming, please let them know your needs.
- Cancelled Use: If your group has a field reserved and decides to not use the time, please call and leave a message at the Field Lights number. If the group doesn’t call to cancel the lights, they will not get credit for the light fees. Credit for the light fees will begin at the time/date stamp of the message.
- Dark Skies: If your group has the field reserved and feels that it would be safer for the lights to be “on now,” please call and leave a message at the Field Lights number. Staff will try to accommodate the request.
- Use Running Long: If your group has the field reserved and realizes that additional time might be needed, please call and leave a message at the Field Lights number. Additional time may not be an option due to field availability.
- Finishing Early: If your group has a field reserved and finishes early, please call and leave a message at the Field Lights number. Credit for the light fees will begin at the time/date stamp of the message.
Poor Weather Impacts
Light credit for poor weather will be applied if one of the following apply:
- The field is closed per the Field Closure Line
- The group calls to cancel the lights. Credit for the light fees will begin at the time/date stamp of the message.
Reminder: Submit an Add/Update Field Reservations Spreadsheet to request credit for the field charges. The Parks Scheduling Office needs to receive this form no later than the first day of the following month or within 5 days for end-of-month impacts.
