The city is planning a new neighborhood park at 14700 SE 39th St. Our park master plan will help guide the design and construction of the park in the Eastgate neighborhood. The plan will be informed by park system needs, community feedback, the Parks & Community Service Board’s recommendation and the City Council. We are excited to work with residents in the planning, expected to take about a year.
Questions, comments and feedback are welcome at any time. Please contact project manager Zarrian Smith.
Background
The 2022 Parks and Open Space System Plan identified significant gaps in parks facilities in Eastgate. Neighborhood parks citywide continue to be highly desired by the public and neighbors in Eastgate.
The voter-approved 2022 Park and Open Space Levy funded the land acquisition for this half-acre park and will support its development.
Public Outreach
We are committed to working with you and providing an inclusive, transparent public engagement process. We will work to:
- Provide a range of opportunities for the community to be included and inform the park plan.
- Generate broad-reaching, cross cultural, and multigenerational public input, and
- Keep the public, the Parks & Community Services Board and City Council informed.
