Construction for an accessible path to South Bellevue Community Center.

Graphic showing the layout of the new pedestrian pathway

It has been almost 25 years since the Council approved the construction of South Bellevue Community Center at Eastgate Park. While accessible by car, site topography has made it difficult to provide an accessible pedestrian route to the community center from Newport Way.

To ensure access and equity for residents and visitors of Bellevue with disabilities, as well as to promote inclusion for all residents, engineering and permitting work has been completed to support the construction of an accessible path from Newport Way to the South Bellevue Community Center.

Current Status

Pathway construction has begun, and is expected to be complete in spring of 2024.

Construction fencing is up, for your safety please stay out of the construction area.

During construction the west side of the tennis court parking lot will be closed, as will the social trails that go up the slope to the community center. Please be mindful that construction vehicles will be entering and exiting the parking lot, and occasionally equipment will be moving in the area.

Intermittent Parking Lot Closures

Please be aware that the tennis court parking lot will intermittently experience full closures. During these closures, visitors are welcome to park in the community center parking lot south of the building and walk down to the tennis courts. We apologize for the inconvenience.
