Incorporating intelligent transportation systems (ITS) into the Traffic Management Center at City Hall and elsewhere improves real-time traffic information, emergency services and transit.
In 2018, Bellevue updated the 2004 ITS Master Plan, renaming it the Smart Mobility Plan. The new plan includes substantial changes such as autonomous, connected, electric and shared technologies.
Related to its work on the Smart Mobility Plan, Bellevue and the City of Kirland jointly submitted a federal grant application in 2018 to create a flexible, electric, autonomous CommutePool Network. A four-page summary of the proposal also is available.
