The City is advancing the preliminary design for a new shared‑use path along NE 12th Street, from 100th Avenue NE to 108th Avenue NE. This project supports a long‑term vision to create a safe, comfortable corridor for people walking, biking, and rolling, improving connections between Downtown Bellevue, BelRed and Overlake.

This new segment will link to the existing wide path that crosses I‑405 between 108th and 116th Avenue NE. In 2020, the path network expanded farther east to 124th Avenue NE with the opening of Spring Boulevard—strengthening a key east‑west route through the BelRed area.

What's Included:

  • A new active‑transportation connection on NE 12th Street between 100th Avenue NE and 102nd Avenue NE.
  • Replacement of the existing sidewalk between 102nd Avenue NE and 108th Avenue NE with a 10‑foot‑wide shared‑use path and a landscaped buffer on the north side of NE 12th Street.

Schedule

  • The project is currently funded for preliminary design only. The timeline for construction will be determined once additional funding becomes available.

Funding

This phase of the project—preliminary design—is supported by local funding under project number PW‑R‑225. While funding for construction is not yet secured, advancing early design work helps the City prepare for future opportunities to build the full corridor.

Outreach material for previous phases:

  • Construction alert (Nov. 2020)
  • Project update mailer (May 2020)
  • Project map (May 2020)
  • Renderings (Jan. 2020)
