The four lanes of the new Northeast Spring Boulevard continue from 120th to 124th Avenue Northeast through the Spring District development. The section will include traffic signals at 120th and 124th avenues, with two pedestrian signals in between for accessing the future Spring District/120th Street light rail station. On-street parking will be provided on the north side and a cycle track will be included with the sidewalk on both sides of the new road.

The project is being developed in coordination with Sound Transit, which is building the East Link light rail project, and Spring District developer Wright Runstad & Company. In mid-2017 project partial funding was secured through a federal TIFIA loan (Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act) and through the Surface Transportation Block Grant program.

    Construction begins Oct. 7

The city's contractor, Interwest Construction, begins construction Oct. 7. Expect periodic lane closures at the intersection of Northeast Spring Boulevard at 120th Avenue Northeast. The intersection with 124th Avenue Northeast will also be closed for up to 12 weekends in coordination with the current traffic closure between Northeast 12th Street/Bel-Red Road and Northup Way for the 124th Avenue Northeast Corridor project.
