The City of Bellevue is committed to serving all community members, including many immigrants and refugees who make their home in Bellevue, with transparent and accurate information in the event changes to laws might affect them.
The city offers an Immigrant and Refugee Resources web page for community members to better understand how local governments operate within the context of local, state and federal laws, specifically as it relates to immigration policy. If community members have concerns about their immigration status or the possibility of deportation for themselves or family members given recent changes in immigration policy at the federal level, these resources and information may be able to help.
Importantly, the City of Bellevue wants all Bellevue community members, regardless of immigration status, to feel comfortable calling 911 for help and reporting crimes. Bellevue police do not ask victims or witnesses of crimes about their immigration status. Further, the city continues its commitment to protecting community members against hate crimes and bias-related events.
City staff members are monitoring policy changes that could affect the Bellevue community and working to ensure community members have access to accurate information. To make city services easier to access, help is available in multiple languages.
