Crews working to replace two electrical towers will close a section of 124th Avenue Northeast in both directions, around the clock, starting at 4 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, and ending at 6 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14.
The closed section will extend from Northeast District Way to the King County Metro driveway near Ichigo Way, in the BelRed area. No through traffic will be allowed for drivers, pedestrians or bicyclists, but business access will be maintained. Detours will route through traffic to 120th and 132nd avenues northeast. Work hours will be daily, weekdays and weekends, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.
Workers will use large cranes to replace the current four-legged, “lattice” transmission towers, owned by Seattle City Light, with skinnier monopoles. The changes are needed as part of the city’s 124th Avenue Corridor Improvement Project, which will enhance safety and access for all road users.
