High School Student Action Campaign: Race to Refill
When you refill, you make a difference!
- Americans purchase about 50 billion water bottles per year, averaging about 13 bottles per month for every person in the U.S.! That means by using a reusable water bottle, you could save an average of 156 plastic bottles annually. Source: earthday.org
City of Bellevue has clean tap water that exceeds all standards. Bellevue’s high-quality drinking water comes from the watersheds of the Tolt and Cedar rivers, and meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards. Some Bellevue tap water is bottled and sold to other parts of the world, while we have easy access straight from our sinks! Source: Water Quality | City of Bellevue
Take part in the City of Bellevue's Race to Refill
The Race to Refill is a challenge issued by the City of Bellevue to Bellevue high schoolers to increase use of reusable water bottles instead of single-use water bottles.
Ways to Participate
Use your reusable water bottle and scan daily
- Bring your reuseable water bottle to school with you and refill at your water refill stations.
- Every day you bring your own bottle to refill, scan the QR code and fill out the form below to be entered into a prize giveaway.
- Winners will be announced in at the end of the campaign.
Remember: Your reusable water bottle should be cleaned with soap and warm water daily. Using a bottle brush helps to clean hard to reach places. If your bottle has parts like sliders and mouthpieces, make sure to disassemble them for a deep clean.
Submit a Sticker Design!
- Design a sticker that promotes your school, using reusable bottles, and/or why reducing plastic is important. Your design must be a 2" or 3" circle. Templates are available below.
- At the end of the Race to Refill Campaign, the school with the most reusable water bottles filled will be entered to have their sticker printed for distribution to students. A City of Bellevue community team will vote on the designs.
Submit your sticker design to the Conservation Outreach team at Recycle@BellevueWA.gov
