The City of Bellevue continues to encourage businesses in the area to apply if eligible for the latest round of Working Washington small business grants announced recently by Gov. Jay Inslee. To have the best chance of receiving funding, businesses should apply by Friday, Dec. 11, 2020.
Yesterday, Gov. Inslee announced an extension to the current COVID-19 health guidelines imposing restrictions on some businesses. Acknowledging the hardship, he also increased the available funding for this grant program by $50 million, bringing the total funding package to $100 million in federal CARES Act funding for grants of up to $20,000 for Washington businesses. Eligible businesses can apply for the grants from the state Department of Commerce website.
“If you know a business or are a business that is struggling due to COVID-19 impacts, please share and use these resources,” said Chief Economic Development Officer Jesse Canedo. “Bellevue’s small and independent businesses are important parts of our community and we want them to continue to be here when the pandemic has passed.”
Bellevue works with partner organizations to assist businesses in completing grant applications in multiple languages. The city also maintains a Business Resources web page detailing all known available resources, including grant and loan programs, regional support campaigns, city-sponsored assistance programs, and ways to support local businesses.
The state funding package also includes another $20 million for eligible businesses that have already applied for prior rounds of resiliency grants but were not awarded funding. Those businesses will be automatically considered in this round without needing to take further action.
The governor’s latest public health restrictions are in place until at least January 4, 2021.
