Downtown has been the city's fastest-growing neighborhood in recent years and it's one of Bellevue's largest, with a population of about 10,000. Yet there has never been a residents association for downtown similar to ones found in other neighborhoods -- until now.
Downtown residents are invited to a kickoff meeting to discuss the formation of a new Downtown Bellevue Residents Association. The meeting will take place Thursday, January 16, 6-7:30 p.m., at City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE. Residents will have an opportunity to:
- Meet their neighbors and share ideas;
- Work for the betterment of the downtown community;
- Hear updates from city staff on projects such as Inspiration Playground at Downtown Park and the Meydenbauer Bay Park project;
- Catch a resident-focused presentation on the city’s Downtown Livability Initiative; and
- Participate in small group discussions on topics relevant to downtown living.
The city's Neighborhood Outreach staff are assisting in the formation of an association so that residents can build a sense of community, advocate for issues they care about most and build relationships with each other-- key to maintaining a safe and vibrant community.
The proposed downtown association boundaries are Interstate 405 on the east, 100th Avenue Northeast on the west, Main Street on the south and Northeast 12th Street on the north.
