Bomb cyclone storm impacts

A bomb cyclone windstorm lashed Bellevue the night of Tuesday, Nov. 19, bringing down trees throughout the city and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Most city facilities have power but some are on modified hours or closed due to power outages. Damages from the storm continue to impact Bellevue, prompting the mayor to proclaim a civil emergency in the city. Updates about the city's response will be posted at Bomb Cyclone Storm.

With ongoing development downtown, drivers may encounter periodic lane closures for truck staging on arterials. A lane is now closed on northbound 112th Avenue, Southeast south of Southeast Eighth Street, to make way for large trucks hauling soil excavated from a construction site at Bellevue Way and Main Street.

Truck staging may become more prevalent in and around the city over the next few years to accommodate increased development, East Link construction and other transportation projects.
