The Enatai Beach Park swimming area closed Thursday due to high bacteria concentrations in the water. Swimming and wading in the water is inadvisable.
Swimming remains open at Bellevue’s other beach parks. Chism, Clyde, Meydenbauer Bay and Newcastle Beach parks have lifeguards noon-7 p.m., seven days a week.
The closure of the swimming area comes at the direction of Public Health – Seattle & King County. King County routinely tests water quality at freshwater swimming beaches throughout the area. The swimming area will be reopened when testing indicates that bacteria levels are low.
The Enatai swimming area was closed for nine days earlier this summer due to high bacteria counts. Although the water is off-limits, the rest of the park, including the beach, is still open. Signs at the park alert visitors to the closure of the swimming area.
