Bomb cyclone storm impacts

A bomb cyclone windstorm lashed Bellevue the night of Tuesday, Nov. 19, bringing down trees throughout the city and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Most city facilities have power but some are on modified hours or closed due to power outages. Damages from the storm continue to impact Bellevue, prompting the mayor to proclaim a civil emergency in the city. Updates about the city's response will be posted at Bomb Cyclone Storm.

Marijuana is still illegal and unsafe for teenagers. The city and Youth Eastside Services are delivering that message with a brochure to be distributed throughout the community.

"Marijuana legal? NOT for Teens. Marijuana safe? NOT for Teens." declares the brochure, developed by YES, which provides counseling and other services for young people coping with a variety of issues, including substance abuse.

The brochure is targeted for teens, parents and teachers, covering:

Effects on the teen brain;
Help your teen make good decisions;
Signs and symptoms of use;
Legal and social consequences;
The law: minors and marijuana; and
Where to turn for help and information.

The brochure will be available at City Hall, Mini City Hall at Crossroads, Bellevue community centers, police substations and other locations.
