Community invited to Sept. 15 public hearing and Sept. 30 information session
The City of Bellevue has published the preliminary 2027-2028 Budget, which will be initially reviewed by the City Council at their meeting Tuesday, Sept. 15. The meeting will include an overview of the preliminary 2027-2028 Budget and the 2027-2032 Capital Improvement Program, as well as a budget public hearing. City Manager Diane Carlson’s preliminary budget focuses on maintaining core services while preparing the city for future growth.
“This preliminary budget positions us to be future-focused and it is grounded in our commitment to providing high-quality services and making responsible investment choices,” Carlson said. “It delivers on our commitments, advances our priorities and creates lasting, positive impact for the community.”
As part of the preliminary budget review, council will consider a Transportation Benefit District as a potential dedicated funding source for transportation projects. If approved, a TBD could help ensure infrastructure investments are made ahead of growth, support access to regional transit and improve mobility across Bellevue’s neighborhoods.
In addition to sharing their thoughts during budget public hearings, community members can join an information session Wednesday, Sept. 30, on the preliminary budget. Staff will be available to talk about key investments in this budget. Registration is encouraged but not required.
Bellevue’s budget is produced every two years and includes a six-year capital budget. The budget serves as a major policy document and describes how the city intends to finance its services and infrastructure.
