These rules are established to promote a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all Bellevue Aquatic Center patrons. Patrons must follow all posted facility rules, the Facility Code of Conduct, and instructions provided by Bellevue Aquatic Center staff.
General Facility Rules
Supervision
- Children under 13 must have a parent or guardian age 18 or older in the building at all times.
- Children under 9 must have a responsible parent or guardian in the water and within arm’s reach unless they pass a swim test. Passing the swim test allows the child to swim independently in the Blue Lagoon Pool only.
- A parent or guardian may supervise no more than two children who are required to remain within arm’s reach.
- Individuals deemed non-swimmers must remain within arm’s reach of a responsible parent or guardian.
- Patrons who are unable to adhere to facility rules or the Facility Code of Conduct must be accompanied within arm’s reach by a responsible parent or guardian during use of the facility.
Conduct & Safety
- Pool staff are authorized to enforce facility rules and supervise the public’s use of the facility. Failure to comply with facility rules or staff direction may result in removal from the premises.
- Patrons must adhere to the Facility Code of Conduct and treat staff and other facility users with respect.
- Use of the pools while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.
- Glass containers are prohibited throughout the facility.
- Running and horseplay are prohibited.
- Diving is permitted only in designated areas of the Dive Well.
- Prolonged, repetitive, or competitive breath-holding and underwater breath-holding challenges are prohibited.
- Shoulder rides are prohibited.
- Masks, fins, snorkels, and other swimming aids require staff approval. Scuba gear is prohibited without approval from BAC management.
- Patrons may only use facility equipment designated for public use.
- Patrons with seizures, heart conditions, or circulatory conditions are advised to swim with an attendant.
- Spectators are welcome in designated areas.
Photography & Recording
- Photography or video of individuals outside your party is prohibited without their consent and Aquatic Center staff approval. Parent or guardian consent is required for minors.
Health & Hygiene
- Patrons must wear appropriate swimwear and ensure all clothing worn in the pools is clean.
- Patrons who wear diapers must wear a swim diaper or other swim-specific protective garment designed to contain leakage. The garment must fit snugly around the waist and legs. Regular disposable diapers are not permitted in the pool.
- Diapers must be changed only in designated changing areas.
- Food, gum, and drinks other than water are prohibited on the pool decks.
- Street shoes must remain behind the gutter line surrounding the perimeter of the pools.
- Everyone must take a cleansing shower before entering the pool.
- Patrons with communicable diseases, who have experienced a fever within the last 24 hours, open wounds, or symptoms of diarrhea or vomiting within the last two weeks may not use the pools.
Locker Rooms & Changing Areas
- Changing on the pool deck is prohibited.
- Locker room use must align with an individual’s gender identity or gender expression in accordance with WAC 162-32-060.
- Children under 8 may use an opposite-gender locker room when accompanied by a parent or guardian.
- Accessible private changing/shower rooms are available. Individuals with disabilities or mobility needs receive priority for their use.
- Electronic devices capable of photography or recording are prohibited in locker rooms, changing areas, restrooms, showers, and accessible changing/shower rooms.
Personal Property
- The Bellevue Aquatic Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
- Lost items will be held for three weeks, after which they will be donated.
Warm Springs Pool Rules
Supervision
- Children 8 years old and under, or under 48 inches tall, must be directly supervised by a responsible parent or guardian who is in the water and within arm’s reach.
- A parent or guardian may supervise no more than two children who are required to remain within arm’s reach.
- Passing the Blue Lagoon swim test does not remove the supervision requirement in the Warm Springs Pool.
Pool Safety
- Users must be aware of the activity around them and must be respectful of other patrons.
- Diving, flips, and head-first entries are prohibited.
- Do not block or linger on the pool ramp.
- Hanging, sitting, swimming through, or playing on access railings is prohibited.
- ADA lifts are reserved for individuals who require their use. Sitting or playing on the lifts is prohibited.
- Benches and walkways must remain clear of personal belongings. Please use cubbies or lockers for storage.
Blue Lagoon Pool Rules
Supervision
- Individuals who successfully pass the swim test may swim independently in the Blue Lagoon Pool.
- A parent or guardian may supervise no more than two children who are required to remain within arm’s reach.
- A swim test may be required to access deep areas of the pool.
Pool Safety
- Users must be aware of the activity around them and must be respectful of other patrons.
- Diving is permitted only in designated areas of the Dive Well.
- Patrons may not hang on or pull on lane lines.
- ADA lifts are reserved for individuals who require their use. Sitting or playing on the lifts is prohibited.
- Hanging on the basketball hoop is prohibited.
- The diving board and slide are open only during designated times. Check with a lifeguard before use.
Dive Well, Diving Board & Slide Rules
General Use
- The diving board and slide may be used only when they are open and authorized by a lifeguard.
- Only one person at a time may use the slide or diving board.
- Wait at the bottom of the ladder until the previous user has entered the water and cleared the entry area.
- Ensure the entry area is clear before sliding, diving, or jumping.
- Swinging on ladders or railings is prohibited.
- Spotting, catching, or assisting another person entering the water from the slide or diving board is prohibited.
- Hanging on the end of the slide or diving board is prohibited.
- Flotation devices are prohibited on the slide and diving board.
- Goggles and face masks are prohibited while using the slide or diving board.
Diving Board
- Diving board users must dive straight off the end of the board.
- Only one bounce is permitted.
- Users must swim out of the landing area immediately after entering the water.
- Running on the diving board is prohibited.
Slide
- Slide users must enter feet-first and remain on their backs for the entire ride.
- Stopping inside the slide is prohibited.
- Jumping from the slide tower is prohibited.
