    Virtual Permit Center

    • Virtual Permit Center Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do to prepare for my virtual permit center appointment?

Customers who have scheduled virtual meetings with Development Services staff should have a computer, tablet or smartphone with internet access available for the meeting.

How long will my virtual meeting be scheduled for?

Virtual permit center meetings will be 15-20 minutes long. Meetings are being offered to provide additional options for customers with general questions about the permit process.

Can I apply for a permit during the virtual meeting?

Permits will not be issued as a result of a virtual permit center meeting. For customers ready to submit an application, permit applications can be submitted at MyBuildingPermit.com following the virtual meeting.

What platform does the city use for virtual meetings?

Virtual permit center meetings will be conducted using Microsoft Teams. For customers who are using Teams for the first time or have questions about the platform, information is available from Microsoft.

How will staff share information with me during the meeting?

Development Services representatives will have the ability to share their screen with customers in order to share important information.

During the meeting, will I be able to share important information and/or documents?

For customers with preliminary/conceptual plans or other images and documents, be prepared to share them via Microsoft Teams screen sharing. Learn about screen and content sharing in Teams from Microsoft.

Can I schedule a virtual permit center meeting to discuss the permit application I already submitted?

Virtual permit center meetings are not consultations of existing permits. For customers with questions about an existing project that has a permit number, please contact the assigned reviewer. Contact information can be found by checking the permit status at MyBuildingPermit.com or by using the Development Services Department employee directory.

I have project plans already, can I submit them ahead of time for staff to review before my appointment?

For customers seeking individualized review of project plans, the city’s Predevelopment Services information page covers how to get assistance and detailed feedback on a project early in the development process before submitting a permit application. Customers can share preliminary plans during a meeting, but documents and plans will not be reviewed in advance of a virtual appointment.
