Naren Briar, a tech professional and Bellevue Essentials graduate, was elected to the City Council in November 2025.
Briar earned a bachelor's degree in political science and government from Boston College. She was a program manager with Stacker, then with Meta, focused on artificial intelligence and ethics.
The daughter of refugees, Naren has led the Genocide Education and Human Rights Initiative since 2016.
