With more than a third of Bellevue residents born outside of the U.S. and over 80 languages spoken in Bellevue schools, it has become increasingly complex to connect with diverse populations.
To help nonprofits, agencies, community organizations and businesses increase outreach and connections with diverse populations, the City of Bellevue's Cultural Diversity program is hosting a free workshop and panel discussion on May 15, 10 a.m. to noon at the North Bellevue Community Center, 4063 148th Ave. NE.
This informative discussion will focus on how agencies, nonprofits and community organizations can connect with and engage diverse populations through the media, including radio, print, TV and social media. Attendees will learn how to get information about their events and programs to diverse communities and gain insight into the important issues related to those groups.
Speakers are: Enrique Cerna, executive producer and host, KCTS 9; Eddie Rye, host of Urban Forum NW on KKNW-AM, 1150; Monica Feliu-Mojer, vice-director, news editor and social media specialist, Ciencia Puerto Rico; Stacy Nguyen, editor and freelance writer; and Xiaoyuan Su, owner, Chinese Radio Seattle.
