The city will begin work Monday, November 3, on a new northbound bike lane along 112th Avenue Northeast through the Northeast Eighth Street intersection. There will be intermittent closures of the northbound curb lane and the sidewalk on the east side of 112th Avenue over the next two weeks.
The new bike lane will connect to a multi-purpose path south of Eighth Street and merge into the traffic lane north of Eighth.
The city's Pedestrian and Bicycle Transportation Plan calls for northbound and southbound bicycle lanes on 112th Avenue from Northeast Eighth Street north to a point past State Route 520, which would improve downtown mobility for bicyclists and support the regional Lake Washington Loop. In the meantime, the bike lane through Northeast Eighth Street will improve safety for cyclists navigating that busy intersection.
The initial sidewalk work will last for about two weeks. The asphalt and striping work will follow, and is weather sensitive. Work hours will be 7 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Please use caution when traveling through the work zone, especially if you are a pedestrian or bicyclist. Drivers should plan to take alternate routes to avoid potential delays.
