Improvements to a stretch of West Lake Sammamish Parkway, including a new multi-use path and pedestrian crossings, are set to be completed in October. To celebrate the upgrades to the arterial, between Southeast 34th Street and Interstate 90, the city is throwing a party for residents on Oct. 10 at Sambica.
The West Lake Samm project is featured on this month's episode of Lake to Lake, a news show about Bellevue (YouTube version and viewable on Channel 21). Other features include:
- An update on construction of a new bridge over Coal Creek;
- Remembering Bill Henningsgaard for his contributions to the community; and
- Details about a Boys & Girls Club gym to be built at Hidden Valley Park.
The imminent completion of West Lake Samm construction is a genuine cause for celebration for the more than 11,000 drivers who travel the road daily. During construction, which began in March, the southbound lane has been closed, causing traffic delays during morning and evening commutes. The stretch of WLSP under construction now is the first of five segments, each approximately one mile long, to be widened on the east side and have a multi-use path added on the west side.
"Lake to Lake" is created and produced by city staff with help from Bellevue College students. Carla Iafrate, Police public information officer, is host this month.
