Being green is easy at the EverGreen Gift Market, a city event on Saturday at the Northwest Arts Center (9825 NE 24th St.) where vendors will sell handmade, local, repurposed and sustainably-sourced goods.
The EverGreen Gift Market, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., is a free, family-friendly event, where visitors can discover new tastes, sights and smells, and browse some wonderful goods and crafts. The market is the first of two offered this year. A holiday version of the market is scheduled to return on Nov. 21 at Highland Middle School.
"The EverGreen Gift Market is an opportunity for our community to support local businesses and artisans," said Jennifer Goodhart, conservation and outreach administrator for the city. "You will find something for everyone on your gift list, and have the peace of mind of knowing that your purchases support a more sustainable future for you, your family and your community."
As part of its environmental stewardship efforts, the city is also supporting a "Solarize Bellevue" program designed to help homeowners obtain affordable solar power systems, and promoting Puget Sound Energy's "Green Power Challenge."
