On Tuesday the Bellevue Police Department recovered a stolen wedding ring after the case was featured on the Washington's Most Wanted television show on Q13 FOX.
On Friday, September 19, the victim was shopping at the Nordstrom Rack store in Factoria. The victim set her purse down while she was trying on shoes at the store. The victim had previously placed her diamond wedding ring inside the purse while she was at the gym. While the victim was trying on shoes, her purse was stolen.
Bellevue Police were able to obtain surveillance video and credit card records. Lacking any additional investigative leads, the Bellevue Police asked for help from "Washington's Most Wanted." The case was aired on the show on Friday, September 26.
On Tuesday, October 7, the suspect came to the Bellevue Police Department with a family member who saw the suspect on the show on Friday and convinced her to surrender, and returned the stolen purse and ring. The victim was notified and was reunited with her stolen wedding ring shortly thereafter. The suspect was arrested for the theft and later released.
"This case is another great example of how local law enforcement agencies work with Washington's Most Wanted and Crime Stoppers to solve crime throughout the Puget Sound region," said police public information officer Seth Tyler.
