Bellevue storytellers will share experiences of insight and action shaped by the events of 2020 and hopes for 2021 at the annual Cultural Conversations evening forum on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. Opening to the challenges and opportunities residents have faced over the past year and reimagining a new normal, these storytellers create a space for participants to consider diverse perspectives in creating an inclusive, engaging and just community.
This evening event is free and open to the public. Doors to the virtual concourse will open at 6 p.m. The program of storytelling begins promptly at 6:30 p.m. followed by small group Zoom-room conversations.
Storytellers from the community will share the following experiences:
- A Mexican-American family’s migration story, which is part of a collection of city of Bellevue employee videos called “My Story, Welcoming America Week.” The account dispels stereotypes, focuses on a history of service to country, hard work, the value of education and compassionate giving within your community.
- A first-generation U.S.-born Asian-American embracing pride in her ethnic heritage while also showing up for other communities impacted by systemic racism.
- A global community of women who share their personal narratives of what it is like to live abroad and their search for inclusion and belonging.
Registration is required to receive the meeting link. More event details are available in the event flyer and at Cultural Conversations.
