The city's tax office will host a pair of meetings on Tuesday, Sept. 24, to update members of the business community about efforts to simplify business and occupations tax (B&O Tax) reporting in Bellevue.
Both meetings will be in Room 1E-112, on the first floor of City Hall, 450 110th Ave. NE. The meeting agendas include an update on the multi-city business tax and license portal project, and an interactive session to discuss simplifying Bellevue's square footage tax.
- Session one: 7:30 to 8:30 a.m.
- Session two: 1 to 2 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity for stakeholders to learn more about our efforts and to ask questions of our staff," said Finance Director Jan Hawn. "We encourage Bellevue business representatives familiar with the city's tax reporting system to attend one of the two meetings."
Bellevue is collaborating with Seattle, Tacoma, Everett and Bellingham on the B&O portal project, which will make it easier to get a license and pay local taxes online to those cities. Revisions to the city's square footage tax reporting are part of an ongoing effort to simplify Bellevue's business taxes.
Attendees are asked to RSVP by email at tax@bellevuewa.gov or by phone at 425-452-6851, and indicate which session they plan to attend.
The City Council recently discussed B&O tax simplification (council memo). More information about the city's B&O tax is available on the city's B&O Tax page.
