Bellevue Police have arrested two Kent men suspected of a rash of residential burglaries in Bellevue and surrounding Eastside cities over the second half of 2015. In many cases, the burglars threw rocks through back windows of homes to gain entry.
A tip from Bridle Trails residents about a suspicious car in their neighborhood helped police break the case. "So often, good communication and cooperation between residents and police can make a real dent in crime," Captain Marcia Harnden noted.
Temetrius Hollis has been charged in King County Superior Court with four counts of residential burglary and two counts of first-degree theft. His associate is expected to be charged pending additional follow-up investigation by detectives.
In an Oct. 7 burglary in the Lakemont neighborhood, the victim arrived home and discovered two men inside his residence. The suspects jumped off the second-story roof of the house, got in their car in the driveway, then rammed the victim's car to escape.
On Nov. 17, four burglaries occurred in the same day, two in Bellevue and two in Redmond, in which jewelry, electronics, cash and firearms were stolen. Two witnesses saw a blue BMW X5 in the immediate area of the Bellevue burglaries.
The Bellevue Police Special Enforcement Team investigated, and was able to get a quick start after alert neighbors in Bridle Trails reported a suspicious BMW in their neighborhood. SET detectivers were able to connect the vehicle to Hollis. On Dec. 2, Bellevue and Renton police arrested Hollis after he left his Kent apartment. A search of Hollis' apartment led to the recovery of stolen property.
The following week officers located and arrested Hollis' associate, who is not being named as he has not yet been charged with a crime. During questioning, the associate admitted to committing 'too many burglaries to remember" with Hollis in 2015, including the five previously mentioned burglaries.
