Olympic Pipeline is completing their relocation work, and on Monday evening, April 28, the City of Bellevue will shift traffic to the west side of Coal Creek Parkway, between Forest Drive Southeast and Southeast 60th Street, as Phase II begins on the Coal Creek Parkway Bridge. One lane in each direction will remain open until October, and the speed limit will stay at 25 mph through the work zone.
The city will begin work to build the second half of a new bridge on Coal Creek Parkway to replace a 45-year-old culvert. The project includes a pedestrian pathway that will run underneath the bridge and connect to the Coal Creek trail and also creek restoration to improve salmon migration. The city realizes that the reduction of Coal Creek Parkway to one lane in each direction has been challenging and has caused traffic delays, especially during peak commute times. The city appreciates the community's understanding and asks that drivers continue to find alternate routes and/or avoid peak traffic times when feasible. As always, drivers and bicyclists should be extra cautious when moving through the construction zone. Please note: The sidewalk in this section of the parkway will remain closed until the bridge is complete.
