Helping Eastside cities install solar panels on homes and businesses

Eastside Climate Partnership – a collaboration between the cities of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Redmond and Sammamish that works to reduce climate pollution and advance sustainability – is excited to announce Solarize Eastside, a program helping Eastside communities install solar panels on local homes and businesses.

Residents from the six partner cities can sign up for a free solar assessment of their homes or businesses through July 4 at SolarizeEastside.org. Those who register will receive a detailed solar proposal at a reduced rate from a partner solar installer and can easily schedule dates for panel installation. Additionally, Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union is offering program participants special financing to help reduce panel costs.

Buildings with solar panels benefit from reduced energy bills and net metering, which allows customers to earn utility bill credits for any generated energy that flows back into the electrical grid. Customers pay a reduced fixed monthly fee and can offset the rest of their electric bills using the energy their solar panels generate.

Using vetted local installers Artisan Electric, Sunergy Systems, Puget Sound Solar, Sun Path Electric and Solterra Solar, Solarize Eastside offers an easy solution based on equipment quality, business practices and discounted pricing.

Though installing solar panels may seem daunting – from complicated technical details and perceived costs to selecting a qualified installer – Solarize Eastside participants can benefit from knowledgeable staff who are available to answer questions, review proposals and guide participants through the entire process.

Free public workshops will be available throughout the four-month program and can be found at SolarizeEastside.org. Interested community members are encouraged to attend and learn about solar energy, available incentives and what to expect from the Solarize Eastside program. Workshop attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions directly to Solarize Eastside team members and installers.

For more information, contact Solarize Eastside at solarize@olysol.org or 360-481-4020.
