Road construction season rolls on with work on several busy roadways this week and next. Here's a rundown of the latest full and partial street closures for travelers to anticipate:
- Lake Hills Connector: Through Friday, June 17, crews are grinding and making pavement repairs on the Connector, from Richards Road to 140th Avenue Southeast (pavement overlay program). Two lanes will be closed in one direction and traffic will be moved to a single lane on the opposite side of the road, then the process will be reversed. Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, workers will repave the roadway, weather permitting. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please obey police flaggers assisting at intersections.
- NE Eighth Street at 120th Avenue Northeast: The busy intersection on the east side of Interstate 405, near downtown, will be closed to traffic in all four directions from 10 p.m. Friday, June 24, to noon Sunday, June 26, so crews can repave the road. Detours will be in place and travelers should use Northeast 12th Street as the main east-west route. The work is part of the 120th Avenue Northeast Stage 2 project
- 110th Avenue Northeast in front of City Hall: All lanes in both directions of 110th Avenue Northeast, from Northeast Sixth Street to the garage entrance of the City Center Plaza building (555 110th Avenue NE), are closed until late July. The closure, which began Monday, is necessary so Sound Transits contractor for the East Link light rail tunnel can prepare the soil beneath the roadway for tunneling. City Hall, at 450 110th Ave. NE, will continue to be accessible.
