Did the reimagined Bellwether arts festival turn out to be as popular as organizers could imagine? Five hundred people attended the opening party for the 10-day event in September, and attendance at the Bellevue Arts Museum doubled while Bellwether was there.
The transformation of Bellevue’s signature arts event from a three-month sculpture exhibition primarily at City Hall and Downtown Park to a 10-day show with two- and three-dimensional art, mostly at BAM, is covered in the October issue of It’s Your City, available this week.
Other city news presented in the newsletter mailed to all residential and business addresses in Bellevue includes:
- Kickoff of the “Great Neighborhoods” planning effort, which has gotten underway in Northwest and Northeast Bellevue with workshops this month.
- The adoption of a land use code amendment covering where and how a shelter can be sited in Bellevue.
- A Council Corner column from Councilmember John Stokes that ties placemaking to economic success here
- An FAQ about bike lanes, bike boxes and other bicycle facilities new to some travelers on Bellevue’s streets.
It's Your City is produced three times a year, informing Bellevue residents and businesses about city projects and programs.
