Published November 7 2013

The City of Bellevue is seeking public comment on the draft 2013 Wastewater System Plan Nov. 7 to 24. Printed copies of the plan will be available to check out for a limited time at the Service First counter at City Hall. A CD version will also be on sale for $5 at City Hall.

The draft planning document is the culmination of several months of policy review, a technical evaluation of the wastewater system, followed by development of plan recommendations that will guide future management and operation of the wastewater utility system. Public comment was also invited throughout the two-year process at Environmental Services Commission meetings.

Written comments can be submitted in several ways:

  • Email comments to dlane@bellevuewa.gov, or mail to City of Bellevue P.O. Box 90012 Bellevue, WA 98009, attention Doug Lane, or
  • Attend an open house Nov. 21, prior to the Environmental Services Commission meeting at City Hall; (1E-113, 5:30-6:30 p.m.) or during the subsequent meeting. City staff will be available to discuss the Wastewater System Plan, answer questions and collect written comments.

The public can submit comments regarding the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) review and determination for the Wastewater System Plan, which will be issued in December. SEPA provides a way to identify possible environmental impacts that may result from governmental decisions.

The public can also make comments during oral comment periods at the beginning and end of Environmental Services Commission meetings prior to the ESC taking action on the plan, which is anticipated in January 2014 at the earliest. ESC meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m., at City Hall.
