Alert detective recognizes "Man Bun Bandit" in surveillance video
Bellevue police on Tuesday arrested a man suspected in a string of commercial burglaries in Bellevue, Olympia and Lacey over the past year. Detectives interviewed the 48 year-old Seatac man, and he was booked into the King County Jail pending charges.
Over the past year, Bellevue police responded to several commercial burglaries in which the same suspect was believed to have been involved. In some of those burglaries, the suspect could be seen with a distinctive "man bun" hairstyle, earning him the nickname "the man bun bandit."
On March 27, a burglary occurred at Bellevue car dealership, and a detective was able to identify the suspect via surveillance images from the dealership, leading to his arrest Tuesday. During an interview with detectives, the suspect confessed to recent commercial burglaries, and an additional 10 commercial burglaries and thefts over the last year, in Bellevue, Olympia and Lacy.
The suspect was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of burglary and possession of stolen property, and the police investigation is ongoing.
