The Bellevue Police Department arrested two burglary suspects that appear to be responsible for several burglaries in Bellevue and possibly the surrounding area.
One of the burglars arrested was seen on a homeowner's webcam video. The video, which showed the suspect walking around inside a home, was featured on "Good Morning America." The homeowner was alerted by her smartphone app. She phoned her neighbor who called 911. Bellevue Police arrived but were unable to locate the suspect; however, the homeowner's dropped stolen items were recovered.
A citizen who recognized the suspect in the webcam video phoned the police. The suspect eventually turned himself in. Detectives arrested the suspect on Monday. The 33-year-old Bellevue transient has been cooperative with the investigation and admitted to multiple prowls and burglaries in the Surrey Downs neighborhood. He is currently assisting detectives by providing information on previous crimes committed. He admitted to at least five burglaries of unlocked garages and admitted to 25 to 30 prowls of unlocked cars in the last year.
On Tuesday night Bellevue Police working with King County Sheriff's Office detectives arrested another suspect responsible for several burglaries in the Enatai area. The investigation led detectives to a 27-year-old Tacoma transient, who was located and arrested at a hotel in Tacoma. The suspect admitted to burglarizing homes in Bellevue over the past six months. The investigation of at least five burglaries is ongoing, and detectives may develop more information on several other crimes.
Very little property has been recovered because the suspect immediately sells/trades it following the burglary. The suspect is currently in the King County Jail where he was booked for residential burglary.
In an unrelated case, a third suspect was identified and was the 434th capture from viewer tips on Washington's Most Wanted. Police ultimately located and arrested him in Woodinville for a Bellevue burglary. He was booked in the King County Jail.
