The Honor Guard raises the pride flag at City Hall.

In honor of Pride Month, the City of Bellevue and Pride Across the Bridge are joining together to host Pride on the Plaza, an event celebrating our LGBTQIA+ community that will feature music, food and theatrical performances highlighting the talents of queer artists in the community.

Community members are encouraged to attend the free event at City Hall on Wednesday, June 4, noon-2 p.m.

The event will open with a pride flag raising ceremony, accompanied by remarks from city leaders celebrating Bellevue's diversity and the contributions of the local LGBTQIA+ community. Edgar Longoria, executive director of Entre Hermanos, will deliver a keynote address.

The program will conclude with music by a live DJ and light refreshments. Community members can visit resource tables with information supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Pride Across the Bridge is proud to work alongside our partner, the City of Bellevue, and its incredible teams to build diverse, connective spaces,” said Axton Burton, executive director of Pride Across the Bridge. “Collaborating on Pride on the Plaza brings joy, visibility and belonging to the heart of the Eastside – supporting the LGBTQIA+ residents, workers and visitors who make Bellevue vibrant year-round!”

Mayor Lynne Robinson added, “The City of Bellevue stands firm in our commitment to being a welcoming city and supporting our LGBTQIA+ residents, workers and visitors. Our community events provide an opportunity to bring all people together to connect, learn from each other and celebrate our rich diversity.”

In partnership with the Bellevue Downtown Association, the city is also sponsoring Pride banners that will hang along the Grand Connection route downtown in June. The BDA will host the Paws and Pride Dog Walk downtownon Saturday, May 31, at Downtown Park.

The City Council plans to recognize Pride Month with a proclamation at the June 3 council meeting.
