Visitors to Bellevue Downtown Park on Saturday, June 28, will have an opportunity to learn about the city's plan to support communications through alternative means if traditional systems fail during an emergency.
The Eastside Amateur Radio Support (EARS) group is participating in Field Day on Saturday, joining with thousands of other amateur radio operators from the U.S. and Canada to show their emergency capabilities and share with residents their knowledge on emergency communications.
Field Day is a great opportunity for individuals to
- Learn about the specifics of amateur radio and its role in emergency response;
- Take an exclusive tour of Bellevue's communications vehicle;
- Converse with other amateur radio operators around the world; and
- Gain insight on how to partner with the city in its journey toward being more resilient.
Field Day activities will be 10 a.m. to sunset in Downtown Park. The Office of Emergency Management has additional information about EARS and preparedness, along with Facebook and Twitter pages.
