People in Bellevue can post their most essential aspirations for all to see at a "Before I Die" Wall at the corner of Bellevue Way and Main Street. Resident Patty Gordon set up the big chalkboard in April, and passersby have filled it with their ultimate to-dos several times over already.
The Before I Die Wall is featured on this month's episode of Lake to Lake, a news show about Bellevue (YouTube version, city web version and viewable on Channel 21). Other events featured include:
- A new bridge being built over Coal Creek;
- Bike to work month; and
- Groundbreakings for a new Belleve Youth Theatre and new visitor center at the Bellevue Botanical Garden.
Gordon, who was inspired to set up the wall by a woman who originated it in New Orleans, wasn't certain how receptive people would be to it. She said the response, with entertaining and inspiring posts, has exceeded her expectations. She takes a picture each time the board fills up and posts it on a Facebook page about Bellevue's wall.
"Lake to Lake" is created and produced by city staff with help from Bellevue College students. Robin Haaseth, Parks & Community Services public information officer, is host this month.
