As part of a county effort to deliver COVID-19 vaccines to more people, a Bellevue Fire Department mobile vaccination team is opening pop-up clinics at busy locations around the Eastside. More than 100 people received vaccines at a pop-up at Downtown Park May 7.
Additional pop-up clinics are scheduled, all for people 18 and older, walking in with no appointment, Moderna first or second shots and Johnson & Johnson shots will be available.
- Wednesday, May 12: Crossroads Park (from Northeast Eighth Street), 1:30-7 p.m.
- Thursday, May 13: Newporter Apartments, 5900 119th Ave. SE, 9:30 a.m.- 3 p.m.
- Friday, May 14: Crossroads Park (from Northeast Eighth Street), 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Saturday, May 15: Newcastle (Lake Boren Park), 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
In January, to help Public Health – Seattle & King County ensure the first vaccines got to all of the most vulnerable people, the mobile team (firefighter/emergency medical technicians) began delivering shots to staff and residents at adult family homes in Bellevue. In March, the team began going to senior facilities and homebound residents.
The pop-ups represent Public Health’s intention to “meet people where they are.” At this time, a little more than half of eligible Washingtonians have received at least one vaccine shot. While COVID-19 cases spiked in the state this spring, vaccinations are credited with limiting deaths and hospitalizations during this fourth wave.
Because the pop-ups are roving, they won’t be listed in the state vaccine locator. If people choose to have a Moderna shot, they will receive directions on how to receive their second dose through the state Department of Health.
