Today marks the three-year anniversary of the day that two-year-old Sky Metawala was reported missing, and investigators are still asking for the public's help in this case.
Bellevue Police detectives are still assigned to the case. To date, they have pursued more than 2,500 tips and leads in this case, however Sky remains missing. The investigation continues to be a joint investigation of the Bellevue and Redmond police departments.
Police remain hopeful this case will be solved. Officer Seth Tyler, Bellevue Police public information officer, stated: "Often times, it takes only one witness or key piece of evidence to solve a case. For example, Bellevue Police recently identified a suspect via a DNA hit on critical evidence found at the scene of a 1980 rape and murder case. The case went cold after all investigative leads were exhausted. Bellevue detectives continued to investigate the case for the next three decades, and murder charges were filed this year against the suspect."
If anyone has any information regarding this case, they are urged to contact the Bellevue Police Department by sending an email to pdtipline@bellevuewa.gov or calling 425-577-5656. A poster showing a photo of Sky, as well as an age-progressed image showing what Sky might look like today can be found at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
