The Bellevue Police Department has concluded its investigation into assault and property damage allegations made against Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, confirming that Lynch had no involvement in the case.
As a result of the investigation, police have developed probable cause to believe that Lynch's accuser, a 31-year-old Bellevue woman, made a false or misleading statement to a public servant on August 10. The police have forwarded a criminal summons to the City Attorney's Office.
City Prosecutor Susan Irwin said Friday that a decision about filing charges will likely be made within a few weeks. Making a false or misleading statement to a public servant is a gross misdemeanor punishable by up to 364 days in jail and/or a $5,000 fine.
