Bomb cyclone storm impacts

A bomb cyclone windstorm lashed Bellevue the night of Tuesday, Nov. 19, bringing down trees throughout the city and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Most city facilities have power but some are on modified hours or closed due to power outages. Damages from the storm continue to impact Bellevue, prompting the mayor to proclaim a civil emergency in the city. Updates about the city's response will be posted at Bomb Cyclone Storm.

On Monday, December 15, at approximately 12:31 a.m., Bellevue Police responded to a report of a car crash on the 15400 block of Lake Hills Boulevard. Officers arrived and located two involved vehicles.

Investigating officers arrested one of the drivers, a 25-year-old Bellevue resident, for vehicular assault. The other driver, a 40-year-old Bellevue resident, was transported by ambulance to Overlake Hospital with serious injuries.

Drugs or alcohol are believed to be a factor in this collision. Police closed Lake Hills Boulevard to conduct the investigation.

"This crash is a reminder that drug- and alcohol-related collisions remain a threat to our communities," said Lt. Marcia Harnden. "Our officers will be out in force this holiday season looking for impaired drivers."
