On Tuesday, March 31, at 9:19 p.m., the Bellevue Fire Department responded to the Avalon Meydenbauer Apartments, 10410 NE Second St., for a reported "water flow" fire alarm, indicating that a fire sprinkler had been activated. Firefighters arrived and evacuated the building.
Upon investigation, the firefighters located the unit where the alarm had originated on the sixth floor of the complex. Firefighters entered the unit, and discovered a small fire inside. Firefighters extinguished the fire, and then found a deceased woman.
The firefighters contacted the Bellevue Police, and several officers responded. They discovered that the deceased woman had injuries consistent with homicidal violence.
Police detectives, along with arson investigators with the fire department, are conducting an investigation at the scene, which was expected to continue throughout the night. There are no road closures as a result of this investigation, and no other units in the complex are affected at this time.
