Petit served as parks director in Corvallis, El Segundo
Bellevue City Manager Diane Carlson announced Meredith Petit will begin Monday, June 1, as the city’s Parks & Community Services director following the retirement of Michael Shiosaki earlier this year.
Petit served as Parks & Recreation director for nearly six years in Corvallis, Ore. Prior to that, she spent a decade at the City of El Segundo, Calif., serving in roles of increasing responsibility including as director of Recreation & Parks. She also spent nearly a decade supporting community services and recreation functions at the City of Agoura Hills, Calif.
“Meredith’s experience in a variety of parks and recreation public service roles aligns well with the unique needs of our top-rated Parks & Community Services department,” said Carlson. “Her work in community services, capital projects, engagement and sustainability makes her the right person to lead such a diverse and community-service oriented department.”
“Across these efforts, I’ve remained committed to advancing equity in both capital project delivery and recreation programming, and to fostering collaborative, community-centered approaches to public service,” added Petit.
Petit earned a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management from Northern Arizona University and a master’s in public policy and administration from California Lutheran University.
