Wilburton residents will have a chance to learn about streetscape improvements recommended for 124th Avenue Northeast between Main Street and Northeast Eighth Street at an open house on Monday, Dec. 9.
That street, 124th Avenue, is an important connection between the Wilburton neighborhood, the Bel-Red area and State Route 520. With growth anticipated in Bel-Red, the city this summer invited members of the Wilburton community to join a committee that would recommend streetscape improvements between Main Street and Northeast Eighth Street. The committee identified ways to enhance the street to reflect the feel of a neighborhood corridor, while maintaining its function as a collector arterial.
Possible streetscape improvements include optical speed bars and legends, intersection safety enhancement, roadway medians and crosswalk and gateway enhancements. The city anticipates constructing recommended enhancements in spring/summer 2014. There will also be an opportunity to talk with city staff about the gateway sign for the neighborhood.
The open house will be Dec. 9, 4:30-6:30 p.m., at Three Cedars Waldorf School, 556 124th Ave. NE. There will also be opportunity to comment on the project at Wilburton Streescape Enhancements.
