The swimming area at Newcastle Beach Park won’t close on Monday, July 24, as was announced Friday morning.
The planned closure was a precautionary measure to protect swimmers from herbicide being applied to neighboring properties to control invasive milfoil.
The biologist overseeing the milfoil removal determined that it would not be necessary in the 400-foot buffer surrounding the park's swim area, so would have no impact on the park..
