Bellevue College's new president rides a motorcycle and prefers "Dave" to "David." He might seem laid-back, but he's serious about building on the school's successful tradition of offering affordable and accessible education for Eastside residents.
Gathering input from students, faculty, the college's Board of Trustees and community leaders since his appointment in January, Dave Rule envisions Bellevue College developing a national model for excellence in urban higher education. The college will add many more four-year bachelor's degrees to the certificates and two-year associate degrees that have been its mainstay for nearly 50 years. He shares his ambitions in an interview in this month's "Lake to Lake" news show, available on the city's YouTube channel, at Bellevue TV and on channel 21.
The Bellevue Golf Course, a springtime destination for many Eastsiders, is also featured on the April show. "Lake to Lake" is created and produced by city staff with help from Bellevue College students. Lt. Troy Donlin with the Bellevue Fire Department is host this month.
Other "Lake to Lake" segments this month include a Spring Forward Expo coming up on April 24 and an online dashboard that tracks the city's progress reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
