The City of Bellevue has added 15 new artworks to its public art collection, selected from over 200 submissions by local artists. These acquisitions underscore the city’s ongoing commitment to supporting local artists and showcasing the creativity and cultural richness of our community.
To mark this acquisition, the city will host a free reception at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at City Hall, which will feature live music by cellist Gretchen Yanover, remarks from city leaders and light refreshments.
The newly acquired art – two-dimensional paintings now hanging on the second floor of City Hall – has been added to the city’s Portable Artworks collection. Part of the Bellevue Public Art Collection, the portable art is intended for rotating display throughout Bellevue’s public spaces, including libraries, city buildings and other gathering spaces.
The vision of the Public Art Collection is to serve as a leading community resource for cultural exchange, enhancing public spaces, fostering pride and belonging, and showcasing the diverse identities and cultures of Bellevue residents. Since 2020, the Arts Commission has added 65 new works to the portable collection, with calls for new artwork roughly every two years.
